Officials with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance said some patients have been reporting that providers have not been accepting their Community Health Alliance insurance.
According to reports, the Knoxville-based co-op was shutting down and will no longer offer insurance plans after December 31, but the insurer has been expected to pay claims through the end of the year.
The Commerce and Insurance Department wanted to hear from people with Community Health Alliance plans who have been denied services by doctors or hospitals.
Commissioner Julie Mix McPeak said in a statement, "It is unfair and unacceptable that CHA consumers would be denied access to services."
