NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A teenager has been arrested in connection with a violent home invasion in west Nashville that left a man seriously injured last year.
Police charged 18-year-old Louis Waters with attempted criminal homicide and attempted especially aggravated robbery.
The victim told police that two men kicked in the back door of his home on 40th Avenue North around 1:15 a.m. on November 27, 2013.
He woke up, and saw Waters along with another young man inside his home. He confronted them before fleeing toward his car.
Police said the two men chased him out of the house, demanded money, punched him in the face, and fired a shot at him while he was inside the car. He was struck in the abdomen.
The victim was able to drive himself to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital, where he was transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for surgery. An affidavit said his injuries were permanent and life-changing.
Police said the victim recognized Waters from a neighborhood Halloween party he had thrown at his home less than a month earlier. He even took a picture of Waters, which helped police identify him.
Waters' bond was set at $525,000.
The other man has not been identified. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (615) 74-CRIME.
