Firefighters from across Tennessee came together to honor their comrades who died in the 9/11 attacks.
Each firefighter climbed a total of 110 stories at the Tennessee Tower, representing the number of floors in the Twin Towers.
They walked in honor of the 343 members of the New York Fire Department who were killed trying to save others.
“This is not about us, we don't make the climb, they do. We are the vehicles, it’s special. It’s emotional to be given that honor to take them to the top,” said Joey Clark of the Centertown Fire Department.
Proceeds from the event were set to benefit the New York Fire Department's Counseling Unit which offers resources to family members of fallen firefighters.
