Thieves Targeting Christmas Light Displays

Posted

One of the year’s hottest Christmas decorations has been the Star Shower Laser Light, but unfortunately for numerous people in the Nashville area, it’s also one of the items thieves have been targeting.

The Star Shower Laser Light is a device that projects laser light onto your home, removing the need to hang holiday lights on your home.

Debra of Bellevue bought the device in October and started her display after Thanksgiving, but on Saturday, her display went dark.

“I feel like Cindy Lou of How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” Debra said. “Christmas is a season of giving, not taking.”

After Debra’s Star Shower Laser Light disappeared, she looked to replace it, but had no luck. Every store within 100 miles was sold out, and one store let her know that she was not the only victim.

“I was the third caller, unfortunately, that had stated their light had gotten stolen,” Debra said.

Due to the devices being small and portable, Debra believes people have been driving past homes, grabbing the $40 Star Shower Laser Light, then driving away.

“Sometimes it’s the principle, not the cost of the item, it’s the principle,” Debra explained. “From a moral and ethical stance, stealing is wrong.”

Debra said she hopes the thefts will stop, but until then, she hopes people will keep their eyes open for thieves and do their best to enjoy the holiday season.

“The light is not going to dictate whether I have a good Christmas,” Debra said. “It’s within me.”
