Timothy Madden's Son Appointed Public Defender

Posted

Bradley Madden, the son of the man charged with raping and killing a 7-year-old Kentucky girl, appeared in court on unrelated charges where he was appointed a public defender.

The 20-year-old appeared in an Allen County courtroom Wednesday morning on multiple counts of intimidation and making terroristic threats against police.

Madden told the judge he lost his job when he was charged.

He was appointed a public lawyer and scheduled to be back in court on December 9.

HE WANTS A LAWYER AND HE WANTS OUT! Bradley Madden went before a judge in Allen County. In a brief exchange -- Bradley told the judge he can't afford a lawyer and would like one appointed. He also made it clear he plans to post the $2,500 bond. Bradley said he already lost his job because he was arrested. He was being held in the Simpson county jail. He likely will walk out of there after being processed later this morning. Bradley Madden is charged with B felonies -- accused of threatening police after the arrest of his father. He is not charged in connection with the Gabbi Doolin murder. Below is video of him walking out of the courtroom. He will be back in court on the threat charges on Dec. 9th at 11a-m. My observations? I'm not sure this 20-year-old fully understands the seriousness of the situation. He sat in the courtroom smiling, laughing and gesturing to people in the gallery during the hearing. I see an insecure young adult who is really terrified underneath this nonchalant demeanor. I understand he's hurt and believes his father is innocent -- but his silly tough guy act of threatening police has landed him in some hot water. As for his father Timothy Madden? He will be in this very same courtroom at 2 p-m today. Madden is charged with the rape and murder of 7-year-old Gabbi Doolin. We will also stream that hearing live on Newschannel5.com. It will be a preliminary hearing. This means prosecutors will have to present some of the evidence they have in the case against Madden to the court. That entails putting investigators on the stand to answer questions and the defense attorney will be able to cross examine them. We should learn more about the DNA evidence police say links Madden to the rape and murder. Is it from semen? Hair? Blood? I'm very curious. Is the evidence strong? At the conclusion of the hearing the judge will decide whether to bind the case over to the Grand Jury. Let me save you the suspense: Yes, she will bind it over. And, let me go one more step beyond: The Grand Jury will indict Timothy Madden -- probably next month. That does not mean he is guilty. What it means is the case will then be set for trial. A jury will hear the evidence and decide if Madden is guilty. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS OR QUESTIONS HERE and ... PLEASE SHARE THIS POST FOR EVERYONE CLOSELY FOLLOWING THIS HIGH-PROFILE CASE. MUCH MORE TO COME!

His father, Timothy, has been charged with murder, first degree rape of a victim under 12 years of age, first degree sodomy of a victim under 12 years of age, and kidnapping in the death of Gabriella Doolin.

Following his father's arrest, Bradley Madden allegedly began sending threats to the Scottsville Police Department.

According to an affidavit, the younger Madden sent messages to the department's Facebook page, saying, "[sic] U got the wrong man u sick [expletive] u have to be missing something so either try harder please don't give up if u book my dad in and he does life u will do life watching ur back."

However at some point, he posted on his own Facebook page saying, “I want to apologize for what I said . [sic] It hurts so bad about my dad.”

Officials said he was given a warning by Scottsville Police before they moved forward with charges, but continued to make threats.

The elder Madden was also scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. NewsChannel 5 will stream the hearing live at 2 p.m.
