Tipper Gore Attends Fundraiser For Nonprofit She Founded

Posted

Tipper Gore returned to Nashville recently to help raise money for Tennessee Voices for Children, a non-profit she founded before her husband was elected vice president in 1992.

Tipper and Al Gore separated in 2010, and she has lived mostly in northern Virginia now. But Gore told the Knoxville News Sentinel that she was happy to attend the fundraiser earlier in November for the organization that has advocated for emotional and behavioral services for children and their families.

Tennessee Voices CEO Rikki Harris said the fundraising goal of $100,000 was met and that Gore "wouldn't take a dime" at the event where she was the featured speaker.

Gore said while she's "very touched and very proud" of Voices for Children, about half of kids and families with needs still haven't been receiving services.
