The wife of a White House man who died during a scuba dive in the Florida Panhandle has sued the dive shop.
The News Herald reported the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Panama City, Florida, claimed negligence against Coast Adventures LLC, Diving PCB and the Professional Association of Dive Instructors.
Authorities said 52-year-old Kevin Michael Kimbley of White House, Tennessee, died July 11 after his first dive.
Coast Adventures manager Mike Luttrell said the incident was utterly tragic.
Sheriff's officials said the instructor checked the divers every minute. At the last "eyes on" inspection, Kimbley had an issue with his flippers, which was fixed. Less than a minute later he was missing.
His body was found floating about 30 minutes later. They said his equipment was working properly.
