Police have identified the toddler who was killed after she and her mother were struck by an SUV at a south Nashville apartment complex.

The incident happened Monday night at the Stonebrook Apartments on Hickory Trace Drive.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 21-month-old Siang Hoih and her mother, 28-year-old Thang Cing, were walking in the lot when they were struck by an SUV.

The driver, identified as 61-year-old Taria Fakhree, was initially unaware of the incident but stopped when he saw Cing lying in the parking lot.

He pulled forward, loaded both victims into his Nissan Xterra and drove them to Southern Hills Medical Center.

Siang Hoih was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said Fakhree has been cooperating with officers and showed no signs of impairment.

No charges have been filed. The findings will ultimately be handed over to the District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities said Thang Cing and her family are refugees from the nation of Burma in Southeast Asia.
