Officials with the University of Kentucky have planned to cover up a mural that includes images from state history, including scenes that depict slaves and Native Americans.
The University president said the decision came after meeting with students who objected to the mural.
The mural was part of a Twitter campaign about perceived racial discrimination on college campuses which followed protests at the University of Missouri that eventually forced the president there to resign.
The UK mural had been the target of protests as far back as 2006 when a student assembly called for its removal.
