Vanderbilt University has hired a Chief Diversity Officer, who will serve as the University's top advocate for students, faculty, and staff who feel marginalized.
The hire was a result of efforts made by the student-led "Hidden Dores" group on Vanderbilt's campus.
It was one of there most recent among a list of demands they marched to deliver to the Chancellor's office. They said it would improve diversity and inclusion on campus.
Longtime professor and administrator George C. Hill will fulfill that role starting next month.
