If you think you can't do yoga, think again. Enthusiasts across the state were in Nashville Saturday for the Music City Yoga Festival, and they were treated to a very motivational instructor.
While serving in Iraq In 2004, Dan Nevins lost his legs from the knee down.
When he came home, he was able to heal from his physical wounds, but his emotional ones lingered.
That's when he was introduced to yoga.
He had to adapt some of the poses, but he said it changed his life and helped ground him back to what's real.
Now he has been wanting to see every veteran learn yoga, so they can heal as well.
"And literally I have to adapt every single pose,” Nevins said. “And where people will come to me and say, ‘Wow that sounds so great, but I can't bend like that,’ or ‘My back hurts,’ or whatever, and I can say, ‘No, there is a way to do it. Every single pose.’ And if I can do it, you can do it."
Nevins also suffered a brain injury, but said he's getting better every day.
