Officials confirmed they found the body of a boater who went underwater at Percy Priest Lake and never resurfaced.

Authorities said the incident happened just after 11 a.m. Sunday at the Hamilton Creek Recreational Area.

A man, later identified as Kongmany Rajaphoumy, was test driving a boat when he made a sharp turn, fell into the water, and didn’t resurface.

The 50-year-old Davidson County resident had been fishing with a friend when he took the boat back onto the water to run the motor after having mechanical issues.

Officials with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency confirmed Rajaphoumy was not wearing a life jacket. The water in that area is 20 to 30 feet deep.

It's unclear what caused the boat the take a hard turn.

Sunday night, authorities confirmed Rajaphoumy's body had been found.
