A woman in Putnam County has been arrested after authorities said she was walking along a road intoxicated with a child.
Officials said they’ve charged 38-year-old Amanda Nicole Skidmore with child abuse, neglect or endangerment, as well as public intoxication and simple possession of methamphetamine.
Those with the sheriff’s office said a sergeant found Skidmore walking with a 9-year-old along Burgess School Road around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
According to reports, Skidmore was jerking, could not stand still, and did not know where she was.
The sergeant also noted there was bruising all over Skidmore’s arms consistent with drug use.
Skidmore allegedly admitted to recently using meth and still being under its influence.
She was also allegedly attempting to take the child to her father’s house in Manchester.
Skidmore was being held on a $3,500 bond. She has been scheduled to appear in court August 29.
Authorities said Skidmore admitted to being on parole for drug charges.
Reports stated the child has been placed in the care of a relative.
