Police have identified a woman who was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Madison.
The wreck happened late Friday afternoon in the 800 block of Due West Avenue.
Officials identified the victim of the fatal crash as 61-year-old Vicki Lynn Nichols.
Authorities with the Metro Nashville Police Department confirmed Nichols was driving a 2006 Pontiac Torrent SUV at a high rate of speed. That’s when she allegedly began to drive on the grassy shoulder of the road.
Officials said Nichols overcorrected and caused the SUV to hit a ditch and a mailbox before rolling over onto its side.
According to reports, Nichols died at Skyline Medical Center.
Police confirmed there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene, and they added Nichols was not wearing a seatbelt.
