Local Teen Writes Anti-Bullying Book

Posted

A local teen has choosen to battle bullying by writing a book.

Robyn Gordon, age 13, of Clarksville, has traveled the state reading her book "Stop Bullying" to kids and young adults.

The book is about a boy who gets bullied by another student and how he chooses to solve the issue by standing up for himself.

Gordon loosely wrote the book after her own experience in the first grade.

Her message to other kids who have been bullied is not to be afraid to be yourself.

"You're not the only one, and like I said, it's okay to stand up and let someone know that you're dealing with something. And if you can't go to a parent, go to a friend, maybe go to an older brother and sister, but you can always go to somebody," she said.

The 13-year-old said she loves to write, spend time with her family and friends, and play the trumpet.

Gordon said she always had a passion for writing but said she really tried to perfect her craft after writing "Stop Bullying."

“I was just writing and my mom was working on the computer upstairs, and I said mom I wrote two books,” she said remembering the time she finished writing the book.

Gordon is currently an eighth grade student at West Creek Middle School.

She has planned to continue writing and reading her book to inspire other people.

October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. Approximately one in every three students say they have been bullied before turning 18.
