This week's terror attack in London is highlighting pedestrian safety in downtown Nashville.
On Wednesday, an attacker plowed an SUV into pedestrians on London's Westminster Bridge, killing two and wounding dozens, and then stabbed a police officer inside the gates of Parliament.
In light of the attack, pedestrian safety is once again on the minds of many. To help with crowd control and safety, Metro Public Works put up temporary fences to to allow sidewalk crowds to spill over and protect pedestrians from passing vehicles.
The city is moving forward with the pedestrian improvement plan. A Public Works spokesperson said the final draft will likely include some type of movable blockade that will be installed on lower Broadway.
Metro Nashville Public Works is currently conducting a survey for its Pedestrian Safety Project. In 2015, temporary fences were installed along Broadway in downtown Nashville. If you'd like to participate in the survey visit; click here.
In the past, Metro officials have said pedestrian safety is of upmost importance.
