A man has been facing felony charges after police said he threatened grocery store employees who were trying to stop him from stealing.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said Thomas Mitchell tried to walk out of a Kroger Friday night without paying for beer and chicken.

When two store employees tried to stop him, he allegedly pulled out a box cutter and threatened them with the blade extended.

Mitchell was arrested a short time later. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as theft of merchandise worth $1,000 or less.
