BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man has been charged with arson after burning down a trailer he had been living in for about a week.
Investigators say 26-year-old Tyler Hammontree set fire to a trailer on Polly Thicket Road in Bell Buckle May 29.
The burned out remains of the trailer were found the next morning by Hammontree's father.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office found Hammontree a day after the arson at a nearby home where he was questioned.
The Rutherford County Fire Department says newly passed legislation allowing fire investigators to perform law enforcement functions helped speed up the arrest process.
Hammontree was booked in the Rutherford County Jail.
