NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A man accused of breaking into a Metro Library van and driving it drunk has been taken off the streets.

Police said 21-year-old Jacob Summers left the Tiger Mart on Shelby Avenue around 2 a.m. Friday, hit a curb, blew out his front tire, and kept driving.

Summers refused to stop for police and eventually bailed from the moving car on Oldham Street.

Police said Summers was eventually taken into custody after he climbed over the fence at the Clarion Hotel.

Police said they smelled alcohol, and when asked, they said Summers admitted to being drunk.

He was booked in jail on a $48,000 bond.
