A man has been arrested following a confrontation with the Mayor of Cheatham County.
According to an incident report, an officer was called to Mayor Kerry McCarver’s office on Monday for a distress alarm.
When he arrived, the suspect - identified as Jeremiah Johnson - was allegedly leaning over the mayor’s desk yelling. At some point, he was asked to leave.
The officer went to escort him out but Johnson allegedly refused and kept yelling.
According to an affidavit, several attempts were made to arrest him but Johnson kept resisting. He had to be forced onto the ground and cuffed.
The 32-year-old was taken to the Cheatham County Jail and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and simple assault.
