A man has been charged with homicide in connection with his girlfriend’s death in Nashville.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 33-year-old Charles Nichols III turned himself in on Thursday after being charged with murder.
Police said 35-year-old Alicia Hanvy was critically injured on March 19 after she was struck by a vehicle in the driveway of her Swindle Road home.
The two had reportedly been arguing when Nichols tried to leave in his Honda CRV. Police said Hanvy became trapped under the SUV at some point.
Nichols allegedly fled the scene on foot but was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was later released on a $25,000 bond.
Hanvy was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she died Monday from her injuries.
An arrest warrant charging Nichols with criminal homicide was issued on Tuesday. He surrendered after the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office went to a home in Greenbrier and attempted to arrest him.
Nichols, who has a previous drug possession conviction, was held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
