Police have been searching for the suspect who they believe shot and killed a 27-year-old Nashville man.

The victim was identified as 27-year-old Brandon Lee Jones.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said Jones’ body was found early Sunday morning at 127 University Court in the Tony Sudekum public housing development just south of downtown Nashville.

Residents told investigators they heard gunfire in the area around 3 a.m. About an hour later a neighbor went outside and found Jones. He was lying on the ground in the development courtyard with a head injury.

Police said Jones had been shot and left to die. The motive in the shooting was unclear.

Jones had apparently been involved in an argument earlier in the night. Investigators were working to determine the identification of that person.

There were surveillance cameras at the complex. Police were looking through the video for clues about what happened.

Officials said Jones had an address at the housing complex, but were unsure if he lived there or not.

Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-72-CRIME (615-742-7463).
