NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Four suspects have been taken into custody after a man was found naked and badly beaten north of Nashville.

Officials with Metro Police were called to 24th Avenue North in the early morning hours of July 14, where they found the victim in the road naked and bleeding from cuts to the head.

The victim told police he was attacked by a group of suspects who beat him, demanded cash and then forced him into a pickup at gunpoint after he was unable to cash a check for $50 in gas money.

From there, he was reportedly stripped of his clothing, beaten and then tossed from the back of the truck.

Earlier in the evening, the victim told police he had been in an apartment on Jefferson Street with the suspects identified as Wayne Robertson, Marquis Churchwell, John Welch, Jr. and Walter Aaron Morris.

Based on the victim's statement to police, they were able to track and arrest four suspects in the case.

Police said several of the victim’s belongings, including the check, were found in the apartment.

According to detectives, Robertson told police they planned to hold the victim’s personal items until he came up with the cash to pay the debt.
