NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — While demonstrators set up camp on Capitol Hill during a rally Friday evening, a man who wasn't with the activists spent the evening protecting the police memorial nearby.

He says those that it honors are heroes and he wanted to make sure the memorial didn't get vandalized. He didn't want to reveal his identity.

"These are Tennessee heroes; want to make sure anyone who thinks about defacing them, come to me, we'll take a knee, and pray. We'll pray for everybody here," the man said.

He said he supports the protests but just wanted to make sure things stayed peaceful.
