NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville police investigated a deadly crash involving a pedestrian late Sunday.
According to police, the victim, James L. Rayburn, 47 was attempting to cross the street in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue South when he was struck by the 2016 Mercedes sedan.
The driver was 64-year-old David Peele of Nashville.
Peele reported he could not avoid hitting Rayburn and no charges have placed against him.
Rayburn was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died.
According to police, toxicology testing will be conducted to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor as Rayburn was said to be carrying a case of beer when the accident occurred.
