ANTIOCH, Tenn. - A man was listed in critical condition after being shot outside a night club.

Officials said the 24-year-old victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he underwent surgery.

The shooting happened outside The Complex night club off of Bell Road before 3 a.m. Sunday.

Police said that was around the time the bar was closing, so officers had plenty of witnesses to interview.

The victim walked up to two women in the parking lot. The boyfriend of one of the women got upset that the victim was talking to his girlfriend and got into an argument

Moments later, a group of men approached the victim as he was getting into his car. One of them fired shots and struck the victim in the chest.

“I was outside of the club, and then I heard about two, three gunshots. That’s when I pretty much made my way back into the club,” a witness said. “How can I know I can come out and have a good time without having to worry about stuff like this.”

Witnesses saw the gunman run to a black Nissan Maxima at an Olive Garden next door and flee.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male, between 5'7'' and 6' tall, and he was last seen wearing a large white shirt and faded jeans.

The two women and boyfriend were detained for questioning.

Anyone with more information on the crime or suspect’s whereabouts has been urged to contact Metro Police.
