Police have released the identity of a man who died in an auto-pedestrian crash in Rutherford County.

The victim was identified as 58-year-old Anthony Mijares.

Officials said Mijares was walking in the westbound lanes of Sam Ridley Parkway near Old Nashville Highway in Smyrna Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.

The vehicle was driven by 20-year-old Caleb Singleton.

Mijares was transported to Stone Crest Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators with the Smyrna Police Department believed Mijares was attempting to cross the street when he was hit.

Officers said they did not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
