Man killed in Friday night hit and run

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Lafayette Street Friday night.

Metro police say the 41-year-old man, believed to be homeless, was hit while crossing the street outside a crosswalk near Lafayette Street and Fairfield Avenue around 11:15 p.m.

Witnesses told officers the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and drove off after the collision.

He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

Police are working to notify the victim's family and find the driver. Anyone with information should contact investigators at 615-862-7713.
