WINCHESTER, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Winchester man is in custody after shooting an arrow at a Franklin County Sheriff Deputy on Sunday.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred on January 13th, after James Ferguson, 39, failed to obey traffic commands while traveling through the scene of an accident on Old Tullahoma Hwy.

Due to weather conditions at the time, the Sheriff's Deputy did not pursue the individual's vehicle as he knew where the suspect vehicle resided.

Upon arriving in the driveway of the suspect, Deputy Patrick Stefanski exited his vehicle and observed a man holding a compound bow.

The Deputy then moved behind his police vehicle when Ferguson discharged an arrow from the bow which embedded in the rear driver's side door of the patrol car.

After a brief foot chase, the Deputy and others were able to place Ferguson in custody and transport him to the Franklin County Jail.

A further investigation showed that Ferguson has also vandalized his mother's home and caused significant damage to the residence.

Currently, Ferguson is being held under no bond and has a court date set for Thursday, March 7.
