A suspect was arrested and accused of setting a man on fire on Broadway.
Reports stated the incident happened around 3:25 a.m. Thursday.
A deputy working traffic along Broadway in Nashville actually witnessed what happened.
Two guys were near each other when the deputy said he saw Phillip Bailey light the victim's clothes on fire. The victim was identified as Richard Brown.
Thankfully the deputy was quick to react, stomping out the flames before they engulfed the man.
An investigation showed Brown was sleeping at the time and didn't even know what happened.
Bailey was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Thanks to the quick actions of the deputy, the victim was not hurt, but reports stated his clothes were scorched.
