A man was taken to an area hospital after getting shot in the stomach during a robbery in downtown Nashville.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the victim had been at the Batter's Box Bar and Grill when he walked to a Shell gas station for cigarettes.
When he was heading back to the bar, he was approached by two armed suspects who demanded cash and cigarettes.
At some point, the victim got into an altercation with the suspects and was shot in the stomach.
He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he underwent surgery.
The first suspect was described as a white male, about 5-feet 7-inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He was wearing a red hoodie and black pants.
Police said the second suspect is a black male, about 6-feet 1-inch tall and weighs about 175 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt with a pattern on it.
They were seen speeding off from the shooting in a silver or grey SUV.
A captain with the Metro Nashville Police Department said they believe the same two suspects are responsible for a robbery at 3rd Avenue and Elm Street a little earlier in the evening.
In that case, they demanded money from a person at gunpoint and took the victim’s wallet.
This incident comes just one day after a man was shot and killed near the Country Music Hall of Fame.
