NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Beginning Monday, some of the largest retailers will begin requiring masks in every store nationwide. The mandate also effects stores in Tennessee counties that don't have their own mask mandate.
Starting today, Walmart, Lowes, BJ's, Kohls, Walgreens, PetSmart and CVS will require customers to wear masks.
You'll also have to wear one when you’re grocery shopping this week. Beginning Tuesday, Publix will start requiring masks in stores. Kroger will follow suit on Wednesday.
From hardware stores to coffee shops, companies say they want to protect their customers as much as they can.
The mandates come as cases spike in several states, including Tennessee.
Six Middle Tennessee counties require masks to be worn in all public indoor and outdoor places. Doctors say wearing a mask is one of the best things you can do to slow the spread of COVID-19.
