NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville Council members voted to approved funding upgrades to Metro's tornado siren system.
The vote came about two weeks since NewsChannel 5 brought you the story of city officials calling for a change in the outdated system.

Earlier this month, sirens continued sounding 15 minutes after a tornado threat was over and went off in areas that were some 20 miles away from where the tornado warning was issued.
The resolution will fund siren upgrades, as well as other equipment and building repairs across the county.
