Metro Police continue crackdown on drag racing, impound vehicles

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Nashville Police officials released photos of two cars that were impounded because of drag racing.

Undercover officers saw the vehicles line up to race on the interstate Wednesday night; so they following the vehicles to a truck stop afterward where the cars were impounded.

The department has been focusing on street racing for months. In September, Metro police began increasing surveillance and monitoring social media after receiving numerous complaints. While there has been similar enforcement over the years, the renewed effort has both city leaders and residents pleased.

Authorities also added extra manpower, brought in the Tennessee Highway Patrol for assistance and scoured online for any clues that would indicate large gatherings.
