Metro Nashville students returned to school, and many were welcomed with a backpack full of school supplies.
Wednesday, students made their way into class at several school including some kindergartners, who were there for the very first time.
"Of our scholar population, we have just under 350, we'll have two groups coming into PreK and three groups coming into kindergarten who've probably not been in a school before. So there's lots of things for them to see and touch and smell, and just engage themselves with, it's really about building their excitement," said Michelle McVicker of Buena Vista Elementary School.
The backpacks were courtesy of Bridgestone Americas and The United Way.
