Officials with the Cheatham County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation into the death of a missing Pegram woman.
The body of 41-year-old Demetrice Carter was found by deputies in a densely wooded area 100 yards from her home on Savely Road in Pegram.
Carter had not been seen since she went to bed Saturday evening. Cheatham investigators, along with the assistance of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the District Attorney’s Office, worked all day in an attempt to locate Ms. Carter.
Her body was examined by the county medical examiner and subsequently transported to Nashville where an autopsy will be performed. The case remains under investigation.
