A Metro Nashville Public Schools teacher allegedly assaulted a 2nd grader.
NewsChannel 5 received a tip about the incident and confirmed with Metro Nashville Police that a parent filed a report about the incident.
The report stated the 8-year old was assaulted by his teacher at Alex Green Elementary School in Whites Creek.
Police said the school called the parent about the incident after it happened and youth services detectives opened an investigation.
NewsChannel 5 asked MNPS officials about the alleged incident. They said the teacher has been placed on administrative leave. The teacher has been set to retire at the end of the school year.
Friday, the father of the 2nd grade student said they had not seen the video of the incident, but they had requested it from the school. According to the father, he was told the request had to be made to the board or with a court order.
The parents confirmed they will be meeting with a lawyer next week about a possible lawsuit.
