Metro-Nashville Public School Officials are wanting retired educators to come back into the classroom because they are having a difficult time recruiting for the district.
This isn't just an MNPS issue, there's a nationwide teacher shortage.
The Retiree Recruitment Fair will allow interested candidates to learn more about the current needs of the classroom.
They have four different pathways to get back in the classroom such as full-time, part-time, school-assigned substitute, or regular substitute assignments.
MNPS decided to implement this new strategy of recruitment because they say retired teachers will bring a deep love for serving students, and also have the talent.
The Retiree Recruitment Fair will start this morning at 8 and last until 1. Those interested can head over to the MNPS Martin Professional Development Center on Fairfax Avenue.
