Molotov Cocktail Thrown Into Building On Dickerson Pike

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An arson investigation is underway in northeast Nashville after a Molotov cocktail was thrown into a building. 

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, at a home restoration business on Dickerson Pike.

Officials on the scene said a Metro police officer was driving by and happened to see smoke coming from the building. Crews responded and were able to extinguish the blaze quickly.

The incendiary device was apparently thrown into a window of the business. Investigators said the suspect used a champagne bottle to make the flaming weapon.

 No damage was reported from the fire. As of right now, the fire is being investigated as arson.

There was no immediate description of possible suspects in the case. Police said there were no security cameras nearby. 

The property owner told NewsChannel 5 that there wasn't any cash inside the building. The motive for the arson remains unknown.
