The family of a 26-year-old woman who was mysteriously found dead in a ditch in Madison has asked for answers.
Lisa Kopulos got a phone call no mother wants to receive. Her daughter, 26-year-old Jamie Kopolus, was found lifeless in a ditch Monday.
"Jamie didn't get in that ditch by herself somebody put her there. Someone has information," said Lisa Kopolus, victim's mother.
Kopolus was last seen leaving her job at Steak 'n Shake on Myatt Drive on August 16, 2016, and a passerby found her body six days later in a ditch just miles away from her job. Officers released photos of two men that were last seen with Kopolus. Only one of their story's checked out.
"We're trying to determine where she went, and how long she had been there when we found her," said Detective Garrett Kidd with the Metro Nashville Police Department.
While officers worked to determine how Jamie's body got in the ditch, her mother has tried to figure out where she will get the money to bury her.
"She had no insurance, no money saved, we have no money saved. So the burial is a big priority right now," said Kopolus.
If you have any information that could help detectives in the death investigation, officers ask that you call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
The family has set up a gofundme account to help pay for the arrangements, hoping that the community can help her bury her child. If you are interested in donating the link is posted below.
