Driving through the streets of Nashville, you’re bound to see multiple U-Haul trucks helping move people to one of the fastest growing cities in the United States.
“It seemed overnight that Nashville started booming, and from then it hasn’t stopped.” Jeffery Porter, marketing company president for U-Haul Nashville, said.
Porter has worked at U-Haul in Middle Tennessee for the last 13 years, and while working the front desk, he has been the first to welcome many to Nashville.
“We’re on the front line of the growth.” Porter explained.
Unfortunately for people moving to Nashville, that growth shows through moving costs.
If you look up prices of renting U-Hauls for moving to Nashville versus moving away, you’ll find that a move to Middle Tennessee will likely cost you significantly more than a move away.
A U-Haul rental will cost you more to move to Nashville than away from Nashville to numerous cities including the 5 largest cities in the United States: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and Philadelphia.
Adeivys Marrero and his family recently moved to Nashville from Miami, and he said that even if he had to pay a little more for the U-Haul, it’s worth it.
“It wasn’t that expensive.” Marrero explained. “The truck is brand new, I’d do it again.”
It’s all about supply and demand, and Nashville currently has a high demand when it comes to moving to Music City.
While Nashville is one of the more expensive ones to move to, it is not the most expensive. Moving from Nashville to cities like Seattle or Portland cost more than the reverse trip.
