A fire that broke out at a home under construction in Murfreesboro has been ruled as arson.
The incident happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday on North Church Street.
Officials said the fire was located in the lower level kitchen area of the two-story duplex.
Assistant Fire Marshal Michael Bartlett said the fire was intentionally set.
“There was no gas or electricity hooked up,” said Bartlett. “The fire was set in the cabinets and spread to the walls.”
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire; however, the unit received extensive fire, smoke, and heat damage.
