A Murfreesboro couple who lost a significant amount of their belongs in an apartment complex fire is trying to regroup with their three kids.
The fire happened Sunday evening at the Carrington Park Apartments on Rideout Lane in Murfreesboro.
Officials determined the fire happened on the deck of the third floor where the couple lived but the cause of the fire has not been determined.
Tim Roberts said he and his family were not home at the time of the fire.
"We weren't there, course you rack your mind with 'did we do something,' he said."
Roberts was in the process of moving to another apartment in Wartrace, Tennessee.
"We had taken one UHaul to our new place, unloaded it and we get a call that the apartment was on fire and we raced back," he said.
The fire destroyed 11 of 12 units. The night of the fire, the apartment's regional manager spoke to the victims and offered those displaced to find a place to stay but Roberts says they've received little guidance and had hoped for more assistance. Thankfully they did have a new place to stay.
The family feels what happened on their porch is a reason for lack of communication but hopes that isn't true. They're now hoping to get back on track.
The official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The couple has an 8-year-old son, 6-year-old daughter and 7-month-old daughter.
