A father's touching encounter with the manager of a Murfreesboro pizza restaurant has gone viral after he posted it on Facebook.
Jesse Young and his son were traveling back home from Vanderbilt University Medical Center when they stopped to eat at a Cicis Pizza. Once inside, Young said he noticed an employee eating alone at one of the tables.
“I later learned that her name is Diana and She appeared to have some mental and/or physical challenges,” the post read.
Young, who is the father of a child with special needs, said he was moved by what happened next.
“While we continued to eat our lunch, I noticed that the young manager, Brandon, came by to clean her table and take her plate away. It was then that I saw something that helped restore my faith in humanity. The manager, Brandon, came back to Diana's table with a napkin in hand and gently wiped her face while she just smiled at him.”
When later asked about the gesture, Brandon Morton responded, "I just try to treat people the way my grandparents taught me to.”
Bobby Welch and Brandon took over management at the restaurant less than two weeks ago.
Welch said Diana is blind and comes in twice a week to fold pizza boxes. They always make her dinner after she finishes her shift. She's worked there for about 10 years.
“Brandon is just that kind of guy. We worked together in the past, and I wanted him on my team at Cicis because he has such a great heart," Welch said.
