As temperatures dropped significantly overnight, crews with the Nashville Fire Department spent much of the morning battling various house fires throughout the city.
Firefighters were first called to a home on Dove Place in North Nashville after a fire broke out around 10 p.m. The blaze quickly spread to the front of the home but crews were able to extinguish it.
Workers with the American Red Cross were called in to assist three people who have been displaced as a result of the fire.
About an hour and a half later, another fire was reported at a home on Rosedale Avenue in South Nashville.
Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire. Crews were able to quickly to put out the blaze before it spread to the rest of the home.
The residents were displaced but are staying with other family members as of Monday morning. Firefighters believe the cause originated from an electrical issue.
Crews were called to a third fire around 3 a.m. just off of 21st Avenue. Residents of the Enclave located on Hillsboro Pike watched as firefighters worked to put out a storage unit fire.
No flames were visible, but smoke could be seen pouring out of the third floor unit.
The fire was contained in the storage unit and no one was displaced.
For the most part, all of the fires were caused by electrical issues – something to be conscious about especially when turning on your heat on for the first time.
