Nashville Rescue Mission serves hundreds on Thanksgiving

Posted

Thursday marks day two of the Nashville Rescue Mission feeding hundreds of people for Thanksgiving this week.

More than 500 turkeys from the Tracy Lawrence Mission: Possible Turkey Fry served more the 800 people in the last two days.

It totals more than 5,000 meals for people in need.

It all couldn't be done without the help of hundreds of volunteers.

Some families, like the Townsends, have made volunteering at the Rescue Mission on Thanksgiving a tradition.

"We just wanted to give back and I just wanted to show my children that giving back is what it's about," seven year volunteer Mia Townsend said.

New opportunities to volunteer at the Nashville Rescue Mission in December will open up on the first of the month.
