Organizers planned to serve more than 4,000 meals to homeless men, women and children at the center.
Dozens of volunteers were expected to roll up their sleeves to serve ham, green beans, potatoes, rolls and dessert.
Michael Quinn, a student at the University of Central Arkansas, was among several students volunteering at the rescue mission for spring break.
They have already been in town for a week and were scheduled to leave Friday.
“It’s been incredible,” Quinn said of the experience. “Getting to meet the people that are in the program here and also meet people, who are coming through the mission, and to hear people’s stories and hear that God’s already at work.”
The Good Friday Easter service starts at 10:30 a.m. which will include the Life Recovery Program Graduation.
The Traditional Easter Lunch was set to start at noon. Lunch would be served throughout the weekend.
