NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — We know Music City is On the Rise and so is our tourism revenue.
From pedal taverns to party barges on the Cumberland, tourists have their fair share of unique was to enjoy Nashville, and now one tour company is being awarded for their great service.
“I had worked years and years ago on Broadway before Broadway was anything you wanted to go down and see, and there was one trolley that went up and down Broadway,” said Music City Rollin' Jamboree Co-Owner Jenny Duke.
As a tour and entertainment business owner Duke and her partners Jessie McNamara and Devon Heath are three of the nearly 70,000 jobs now supported by tourism in Nashville.
Six years ago, they converted a school bus into the Music City Rollin' Jamboree and in that time more than 45,000 tourists have been on this bus.
With a singing, improv and comedy the Music City Rollin' Jamboree bills itself as a musical comedy show on wheels.
“We try to bring people on here as our friends and make them leave as family,” said Duke.
The Nashville Convention and Visitor’s Corp knows the importance of that connection in the city’s tourism industry, and that’s one of the reasons they’re honoring “above and beyond” acts of hospitality with a Hitmaker Award.
This trio was honored with a Hitmaker after being nominated by a man they helped pull off the perfect engagement with a special song on the tour.
“We ran on the bus and got it together in about five minutes. I was super nervous, he was super nervous and it’s something I’ll always remember as well,” said tour singer Devon Heath.
From Uber Drivers to hotel workers, each month a new Hitmaker is awarded, and at the end of the year they all go to a banquet.
Most of them agree, they get to share their love of Music City and have an opportunity pursue their passion daily.
“It’s an enormous blessing and I don’t take it lightly and I don’t think any of us do. It’s a blessing to be trusted to entertain people,” said co-owner Jessie McNamara.
