NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nashville's Fourth of July celebration "Let Freedom Sing" broke records in spending, hotel rooms booked and attendance in 2019.
The event brought in $14.2 million in direct visitor spending, which is a 31 percent increase from 2018's record year of $10.8 million, according to the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp.
"This event is designed to be an international and national draw, but we get the greatest satisfaction knowing that so many locals come out to enjoy this free world-class event too," said Butch Spyridon, President and CEO of Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. "To set records across the board is a phenomenal feat, especially when you consider the holiday fell on a Thursday – just wait until next year when July Fourth is on a Saturday!"
Over 26,000 hotel rooms were booked in the city on the holiday.
The city said 343,000 people attended the celebration, smashing the previous record of 284,000 set in 2014. About 270,000 of those in attendance were locals.
