National Endowment For The Arts Chairman Visits Nashville

Posted

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu stopped by the Nashville Children's Theatre to talk about how art impacts the community.

Chu said she chose to stop in Nashville Monday because the city provides many different ways for the community to participate in the arts, especially children.

"We see that there is a very strong relationship between children especially children at risk who participate in the arts, and it evens the playing field for them to not only find a place for them to belong but it gives them the understanding and the discipline of other subjects as well," said Chu.

Chu said that Tennessee offers both folk and traditional arts two particular arts that are not readily available elsewhere.
